Climate Change and Social Housing Tenant Workshop

Housing Plus Academy Workshop
The climate crisis and social housing: What can tenants do?
4th December 2019, London School of Economics

See the outline programme here: Climate Change and Social Housing: Tenants Workshop Programme

Following the positive response to a workshop we ran in October for landlords and policy makers on “A Climate Crisis and a Housing Crisis: What social landlords can do to help”, we wanted to give tenants the chance to learn about the climate crisis and how it could affect them and their homes. Lots of tenants are directly affected by high fuel bills; the urgent need to cut back on energy use; and also with housing problems such as damp, mould, and a lack of suitable homes. As a result, we are holding a workshop for tenants on the climate crisis and how it affects housing, how it can be tackled, and how landlords and tenants can work together to promote energy saving and climate action. Climate change will directly affect the next generation unless we take action now.

This special workshop is being held on the 4th December 2019 at the London School of Economics, based in Central London. Participants will learn more about this crucial topic and share their ideas. Tenants can contribute to the wider challenge of saving our environment and some are already taking valuable action. We want this workshop to encourage housing associations and councils to do more to help tenants reduce their energy bills and uncover ways to save energy.

We try to keep the costs of our workshops and think tanks to the absolute minimum to allow as many tenants as possible to come. We are charging £50 per participant, with a £5 discount for second or further participants from the same organisation. This covers refreshments, lunch, organisation and a resource pack.

Book quickly to secure your place as spaces are limited. Email Ellie Benton on for more information or to book.
